Your Kilimanjaro expedition kicks off at the Machame Gate. The trail leads you through lush rainforests filled with vibrant flora and fauna. You’ll ascend gradually, soaking in the jungle’s sounds, and eventually reach the Machame Camp.
Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll venture into the moorland zone. The path offers stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Your day ends at the Shira Camp, where the crisp mountain air awaits.
Acclimatization is key to a successful Kilimanjaro climb. Spend an extra day at Shira Camp, exploring the area and adjusting to the altitude, which will prepare you for the challenges ahead.
Today’s journey takes you to the Lava Tower, a towering volcanic formation. Although you won’t sleep here, the altitude gain and descent will help you acclimatize. You’ll then descend to the Barranco Camp, nestled in a breathtaking valley.
On this day, you’ll face the renowned Barranco Wall, a thrilling climb requiring some rock scrambling skills. Once atop, the terrain levels out as you make your way to the Karanga Camp, surrounded by stunning vistas.
The most challenging day has arrived. Your journey takes you to Barafu Camp, your last stop before the summit push. As night falls, you’ll begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Witnessing the sunrise from the roof of the continent is a moment you’ll cherish. After reaching the summit, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp, where you’ll rest after an unforgettable journey.
After the Kilimanjaro trek, you have the rest of the day to relax before your flight home. Depending on what time your flight leaves, you could go to Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport.
